India are currently in Australia taking them on in a five-match series for the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the series tied 1-1 after the first two games. The standout performer for India in both these games has been Jasprit Bumrah. He has taken a total of 12 wickets in the series, the most by an Indian bowler. Many have termed the star pacer as India's best bowler right now.
However, one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, West Indies legend Andy Roberts has named Mohammed Shami as India's best bowler.

Mohammed Shami India's Best Bowler For A While: Andy Roberts

In an interaction with Mid-Day, Andy Roberts asserted that Mohammed Shami has been India's best bowler for a while, even though he might not get the same amount of wickets that Jasprit Bumrah does. He called Shami the 'full package' and more consistent than the rest of the bowlers. He also said that Shami should be included in the playing XI for the 3rd Test vs Australia in Brisbane.

“Shami has been India’s best bowler for a while. He may not get the amount of wickets Jasprit Bumrah gets, but he’s the full package and is more consistent than the rest. Shami swings the ball, Shami seams the ball and Shami’s control is as good as Bumrah’s. Shami should play. Mohd Siraj is nowhere near Shami,” Roberts said.

Will Mohammed Shami Join The India Squad For Third Test?

According to a report by The Indian Express, the BCCI has made all necessary arrangements for Mohammed Shami to travel to Australia for the third Test in Brisbane, including readying his visa. They are just waiting for a fitness clearance from the NCA.
“The selection committee is waiting for the NCA’s fitness clearance report on Shami. He travelled to Bengaluru to take a fitness test. He played in the Ranji Trophy as well as the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s, where he looked good. His kit is also ready. We are just waiting for the approval from the NCA,” a BCCI official said.
