PCB Make MASSIVE Demand To ICC Amidst Champions Trophy 2025 Standoff With BCCI: Report
The next ICC trophy that teams will be gearing up to win is the Champions Trophy 2025 which is set to take place in February this year. The current status of the tournament is currently up in the air after India informed that they will not travel to Pakistan. There have been several meetings and discussions to arrive at a conclusion, which looks most likely to be a hybrid model, where India play their matches at a neutral venue.
With a final decision yet to arrive, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have made a massive demand to the ICC.
PCB Demands Written Assurance From ICC
According to several reports, the BCCI and PCB have come to an agreement that all the ICC tournaments will be held in a hybrid model till 2027 when Pakistan will not travel to India. This includes the 2025 Women's World Cup and the 2026 Me's T20 World Cup.
According to a report by news agency IANS, the PCB has demanded a written assurance from the ICC that the hybrid model be implemented for tournaments to be hosted by India shortly.
The report also states that a decision on the Champions Trophy 2025 is most likely to arrive by Wednesday
“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants a written assurance from the World body (ICC) regarding a hybrid model for the future international events to be hosted by India. Decision on Champions Trophy most likely by Wednesday," a source close to the proceedings told IANS.
Where Will India Play Their Champions Trophy 2025 Matches?
According to reports, five of the Champions Trophy 2025 group matches featuring India, including the coveted India vs Pakistan match will take place in Dubai. In fact, the semi-final and final are also set to take place in Dubai, should India qualify.
According to the IANS report, the Emirates Cricket Board is making preparations for the India matches, as they are keeping a close watch on the final decision on the Champions Trophy 2025.
