Vaibhav Suryavanshi was one of the players to watch out for in the U19 Asia Cup, which concluded on Sunday (December 8). Suryavanshi, the youngest player to play U19 cricket for India, had a mixed outing in the tournament. He departed for 1 against Pakistan U19 and scored 23 against Japan.
Suryavanshi scored an unbeaten 76 against UAE and followed up with another half-century against Sri Lanka in the semi-final. The left-handed batsman disappointed in the final against Bangladesh U19 and was dismissed for 9 as India lost.
As Suryavanshi was busy playing the continental event, he was accused of age fraud by Junaid Khan. The former Pakistan pacer shared a video on X and raised doubts over his age. "Can a 13-year-old kid really hit such a long six????" he captioned the video.
Suryavanshi's father, Sanjiv recently rubbished the age-fraud claims and revealed that he had undergone the BCCI bone test few years back. "When he was 8 and half years old he first appeared for BCCI bone test. He has already played India U-19. We don't fear anyone. He can again undergo age test," Sanjiv told PTI.
Suryavanshi, who is the youngest player to play Ranji Trophy, is likely to make his List A debut soon as Bihar will be competing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has played one T20 for Bihar.
