Pickleball's fever has gripped many sports personalities across the globe and many marquee players, including Novak Djokovic, have tried the sport. Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the US and its popularity is on the rise in India too. Pickleball is slowly making its presence felt in India and can become one of the most-followed sports in the years to come.
A few Indian cricketers have also tried their hand at pickleball. Here, we have a look at 3 occasions when the Indian cricketers took a break from cricket to enjoy pickleball -
Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw
Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw recently took a break and enjoyed pickleball with their Mumbai teammates. The Mumbai team was in Hyderabad for the league stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy when the players tried their hand at the sport.
Suryakumar, who is India's T20I captain, and Prithvi were joined by Angkrish Raguvanshi, Hardik Tamore, Sairaj Patil and Suryansh Shedge. Mumbai have reached the second round of the T20 tournament.
Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson played pickleball with UAE cricketer Chirag Suri a few months back. Chirag shared the video of Samson playing the sport. The wicketkeeper-batsman has now fixed his spot in the T20I team and it remains to be seen if he continues to open the innings when the regulars return.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharasan
Ahead of the all-important Irani Cup in October, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan played pickleball. Ruturaj led the Rest of India team against Ranji Trophy Champions, Mumbai. Both the batsmen are presently out of Team India. Ruturaj captained India A in the series against Australia A before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
