The Indian Colts led by Mohamed Amaan are all set to take on their Bangladesh counterparts in the final of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, December 8. The battle will be between India's firepower batting with Bangladesh's mighty bowling attack as the youngsters vie for the first big title of their careers.
India, the most successful side in the U19 Asia Cup's history with eight titles, will be keen to reclaim their crown after a three-year gap. Defending champions Bangladesh, who eliminated India in the last edition, are determined to retain their title in what will be a rematch of last year's semifinal.
India's batting has been spearheaded by Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre, who has amassed 175 runs and 13-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has scored 167 runs in the U19 Asia Cup.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, have relied on their bowlers, with medium-pacers Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon leading the charts, bagging 10 wickets each.
India’s campaign has been one of resurgence. After a shaky beginning with a defeat to arch-rivals Pakistan, the side bounced back in style and ousted Sri Lanka in the semifinal, wrapping up the victory over the Lankans with 28 overs to spare.
Bangladesh on the other hand finished second in their group behind Sri Lanka with two wins in three matches and then beat Pakistan by seven wickets in the semifinal to seal a spot in the summit showdown.
With the wounds of the 2023 semifinal still fresh, Amaan and his band of men will look ahead to turn the tables on Bangladesh and pick up another title at the U19 Asia Cup.
