'Travis Head Abused Me Then Lied In Press': Mohammed Siraj Drops Bombshell On Fiery Exchange With Aussie Star (Source: AP)
India were on the receiving end of Travis Head's onslaught as he smashed the bowlers to all corners of the park en route to a brutal 140. Head's knock put India on the back foot and gave Australia a handy 157-run lead. Travis Head was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj after which the two cricketers shared a heated moment. Travis Head opened up on his altercation with Siraj after the day's play and said he praised the pacer for the delivery but he misunderstood it.
“I said well bowled but he thought otherwise. When he pointed me towards the shed, he got a little bite back from me. Yeah, slightly disappointed with the way that transpired, with a couple of past innings but it is what it is. If they want to react like that, if that's how they want to represent themselves then so be it,” Head told Fox Cricket after Stumps on Day 2.
Head's clarification, however, was exposed by Siraj ahead of Day 3 who confirmed that Travis Head instead abused him and then lied about it in the media.
“My blood was boiling because he had hit me for a four and a six. He abused me when I dismissed him and then he lied in the press conference. He didn’t praise me but was abusive. His statement was not right as we don’t disrespect anyone infact we respect our opponents. My reaction to his dismissal was because of the words he used,” Mohammed Siraj said to Harbhajan Singh.
Meanwhile, Australia are heading towards a big win in the Adelaide Test. India were 148-7 in the second innings, trailing Australia by 8 runs. Nitsh Reddy is at the crease along with Harshit. It will be tough for India to make a comeback from this position unless Reddy plays an exceptional knock.
