'That's Got To Stop': Former Australia Opener Hits Out At Mohammed Siraj Over Travis Head Row In Adelaide

Former Australia opener Mark Taylor has said that he doesn't like the way Mohammed Siraj celebrates or appeals for a wicket and it needs to stop, otherwise the umpires or anyone in the administration might need to interfere and stop him. Siraj engaged in a war of words with Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head and drew the wrath of the Adelaide crowd.
Siraj's antics with opposition batters have been part of his armoury. His fiery send-off to Head added drama to the second day of the Pink-ball Test in Adelaide but that hasn't gone down well with most former cricketers and experts.
Taylor said that while he admires Siraj's competitive nature, he needs to stop taking things too far.
“I like his competitive nature, he’s a fine bowler. I don’t like the fact that when he hits a guy on the pads and he thinks he’s got him out LBW, he continues to run down the pitch, past the batter, almost gets to the keeper and then looks around to the umpire to see if he’s going to give it out," Taylor said while speaking on The Willow Talk Podcast.
“That’s got to stop and if it doesn’t stop shortly, someone and it’ll be the umpires or the match referee – might stop it for him and give him a game off. We don’t want that," Taylor said.
Head, who scored a brilliant 141-ball 140, played a crucial role in helping Australia bag a commanding 157-run first-innings lead. His dismissal in the 82nd over sparked a heated exchange.
The incident unfolded after Siraj, having dropped the local hero on 76 earlier in the day, conceded a six to him. The bowler responded, castling Head with a low full toss and celebrating, while instructing him to walk back, a gesture that has been criticised heavily.
