Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history for India U19 and etched his name in the history books during his match-winning knock against Sri Lanka in the semi-final of the U19 Asia Cup. The opening batsman remained unbeaten on 67 off just 36 balls as India chased down the target of 174 in 21.4 overs.
Vaibhav became the youngest player to win the Player of the Match award for India U19. The youngest Indian to play a U19 game, Vaibhav won the Player of the Match award at 13 years and 254 days old.
Vaibhav and Ayush Mhatre provided a dream start to India and added 91 runs for the first wicket in just 8.3 overs. Ayush missed out on a half-century and departed for 34 off 28 balls. Vaibhav hit 5 sixes and 6 boundaries in his knock off 67 off 36 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 186.11.
Pakistan U19 knocked out
Pakistan U19 crashed out of the Asia Cup after losing to Bangladesh. They lost both their openers early and failed to recover from the below-par start. Pakistan U19 only managed a total of 116 on the board.
Bangladesh U19 also lost early wickets but they were never out of contention. They chased down the target of 117 in just 22.1 overs.
India U19 vs Bangladesh final on Sunday
India U19 and Bangladesh U19 will square off in the final of the Junior Asia Cup on Sunday (December 8). The fixture will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium from 10:30 AM IST.
With 2 wins from 3 matches, India U19 finished at the second spot in the Group A points table. They lost to Pakistan in the group stage. India won't have an opportunity to take revenge for the defeat. Bangladesh U19 also won 2 out of thei3 2 matches in the group stage.
