It is for a reason that the sport is called as the 'religion' in India and cricketers are put on a pedestal and worshipped by fans. Sometimes, to show their adoration for their favourite players, fans cross the line and take extreme measures.
Virat Kohli revealed one such incident in which a fan wrote a letter with blood for him. The former India captain stated that a supporter threw a letter for him written in blood towards his car after an event in a sequence of events that freaked him out.
"I was given a letter written with someone's blood & that freaked me out. Someone threw latter into the car. It was written that it's been written by my blood. I was like that's too much & this is not happening, it was quite bizarre," said Kohli in an interaction shared by Royal Challengers Bengaluru on social media.
However, Kohli also revealed a positive experience of meeting up with a fan while recalling his meeting with an old lady during the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England.
"Old lady, who came to see us in the 2019 World Cup. Those pictures came online as well. It felt like you are meeting your grandmother. That was really special. Just the way she embraced us. She called you home and wants to have a medal. It felt real and warm. Especially with elder people, they have been watching the game for a long period of time. It makes you really humble and grateful for you have been able to do," said Kohli.
Virat Kohli Set To Return To Action
After a long break, Virat Kohli will return to action as Team India takes the field during a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. This will be Kohli and India's first international match in 43 days as they take the field for the first time since the ODI series defeat to Sri Lanka in August.
Kohli was named in India's squad for the first Test, marking his return to red-ball cricket after nine months. His last appearance in whites for India was in the first week of January against South Africa in Cape Town. The Indian batting talisman missed the entire five-match Test series against England due to personal reasons.
