Sanju Samson was simply unstoppable on 12th October, Saturday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has he literally ran riot over the Bangladeshi bowlers to notch up his maiden T20I century in just 40 balls in the 3rd and final T20I of the series.
The hundred was not the only redemption arc for Samson, his fiery innings saw him break the record held by T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav. He went past SKY's 45-ball hundred against England and now rank in the 2nd position behind former captain Rohit Sharma, who slammed a 35-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in 2017. It is till now the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian.
After an average show in the 1st T20I with a 29 score, Samson managed to score only 10 in the 2nd T20I. He was determined to make his mark and right from the word go, Sanju went after the bowling attack and the intent was clear from the Rajasthan Royals captain.
His innings comprised of a total of 11 boundaries and 8 towering sixes. India started off so well that after the initial 10 overs of the innings, the Men in Blue were already past the 150-run mark.
Suryakumar Yadav, the captain supported Samson with an equally good quick-fire innings of 75 off 35 deliveries. Both of them shared a partnership of 173 runs to run riot over the Bangla Tigers bowlers.
Early on, Abhishek Sharma didn't trouble the bowlers much as he was dismissed for 4 runs by pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Riyan Parag and Suryakumar Yadav also came up with valuable contributions with 34(13) and 47(18) respectively.
India finally finished on 297/6, which is till now their highest T20I total in the shortest format of the game and also the 2nd highest-ever team total in T20Is behind Nepal's 314 against Mongolia. India would be definitely be ruing the missed chance by just 3 runs.
