Sachin Tendulkar has been associated with Mumbai Indians (MI) since IPL's inception. The Indian legend joined MI as their icon player before IPL 2008 and played till 2013. He stayed with MI after his retirement and has been working as their icon since then. Sachin missed IPL 2020 and did not travel to the UAE due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sachin was down with COVID-19 during the first phase of IPL 2021 and didn't travel with the team. He travelled to the UAE for the second phase of the season and joined the team during preparations.
Ishan Kishan wasn't aware of Sachin's arrival and he was stumped to see him in the dressing room. During IPL 2021, MI shared a video of Ishan's reaction. The wicketkeeper-batsman quickly removed his shades after watching the Master Blaster. Ishan's reaction left Kieron Pollard in splits. Other players also laughed at Ishan's reaction after watching Sachin (from 5:18).
Isha was a capped player before he joined the MI camp at the start of IPL 2021. His brilliant performance in IPL 2020 brought him close to India selection and he made his T20I debut in the home series against England before IPL 2021.
Ishan was also part of the 2021 T20 World Cup. Two years later, he was part of the ODI World Cup team, where India lost to Australia in the final. He wasn't in contention to be part of the 2024 T20 World Cup team.
Will MI release Ishan Kishan?
MI re-signed Ishan Kishan for Rs 15.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega-auction and there are high chances of him getting released. Ishan hasn't been able to live up to the expectations and he could be back in the auction.
MI will be able to retain Ishan in the auction if there's a Right to Match card. The BCCI will soon confirm whether there will be a mega-auction or not.
