India skipper Rohit Sharma's picture with an injured Musheer Khan and his father Naushad has gone viral on social media. The latter was injured during a road accident in September while travelling in a car from Azamgarh to Lucknow. He played a crucial role in Mumbai winning the Ranji Trophy earlier this year.
Musheer was all set to represent his side in the Irani Cup match against the Rest of India in Lucknow. But the accident, which led to him fracturing his neck, has ruled him out for the next three months.
Musheer's elder brother Sarfaraz, who has already played for India, scored a brilliant double hundred in the Irani Trophy game and led Mumbai to the title.
Musheer took to his Instagram handle to share the picture with Rohit, who visited the youngster as he undergoes a lengthy recovery. Besides the youngster, his father Naushad also featured in the picture.
Although he missed out on the Irani Trophy game, Musheer was seen attending the Mumbai Cricket Association's felicitation of the victorious team.
After the game, Sarfaraz revealed that he had promised Musheer that if he crossed the 50-run mark, he would score a double century and one of those hundreds would be for the latter. Sarfaraz deservedly won the Player of the Match award for his performance.
Although he missed the Irani Cup game, Musheer played a crucial role in Mumbai reaching the tournament.
"First of all, I thank god for granting us this new life and thank all the people who prayed for us, all our well-wishers, fans, our relatives. I also want to thank the MCA [Mumbai Cricket Association] and the BCCI who are taking full care of Musheer and they will give you whatever updates there are in the future," Naushad had said in a video released after the accident.
