  • Harry has three centuries and a triple-century in Pakistan
  • Joe Root departed for 262
Harry Brook continued his dream run with the bat in Pakistan and slammed a triple-century in the Multan Test match. Brook, who scored three back-to-back centuries on his maiden tour to the country in 2022, kicked off the 2024 series with a triple-century. He is the only batsman in world cricket to score four back-to-back tons in Pakistan.
Brook bettered his performance on the fourth day and became the sixth England batsman to score a triple-century. He joined Virender Sehwag and Mark Taylor in an elite list after a triple-century in Multan. Brook is one of the three batsmen to score a triple-century in Pakistan.
Taylor was the first batsman to do so. The former Australia captain slammed an unbeaten 334 in the Peshawar Test match in 1998. The match ended in a draw. 16 years later, Virender Sehwag became the second batsman to join this list. The opening batsman scored 309 off 375 balls in Multan. Sachin Tendulkar missed out on scoring a double-century in the same game.
Courtesy of Brook's triple-century, England now have a lead of 235 and the fans are now waiting for them to declare. It will be interesting to see if England allow Brook to chase the elusive 400-run mark. Brian Lara is the only batsman in the world to breach that mark.
Joe Root misses out on triple-century
Joe Root missed out on scoring a well-deserved triple-century and departed for 262. The former England captain was trapped in front of the stumps by Agha Salman. Root and Brook broke plenty of records during their historic partnership of 454 runs for the fifth wicket.
They now hold the record for adding the most runs for any wicket for England in Tests. The also hold the record for highest partnership against Pakistan in Tests. Ben Duckett missed out on scoring a century and departed for 84.
