IND vs NZ: Highest Successful Run Chase At Wankhede Stadium In Mumbai: Can India End Losing Streak? (Source: AP)

India find themselves on top in the third Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After taking a slender lead of 28 runs in the first innings, India reduced New Zealand to 171-9 at stumps on Day 2, with the lead just at 143 runs. India have the advantage heading into Day 3 and they would be keen to end the series on a winning note.
However, the chase won't be easy, even though India should back themselves to win the game. The pitch is not the easiest to bat and is offering a lot of turn and bounce. India lost the last six wickets for 86 runs in the first innings as Ajaz Patel was almost unplayable.
Similarly, Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin made life extremely difficult for the visitors. Clearly, if the Kiwi bowlers bowl anywhere near the way they did in Pune, we could be in for a humdinger.

Highest Succesful Run Chases At Wankhede

Only once a 100+ run target has been chased at the Wankhede Stadium. South Africa achieved the feat against India when they successfully chased 163, with six wickets down in 2000. The second-best chase at the venue was by England when they chased 96 in 1980.
Winner Opponent Score Year
South Africa India 164/6 2000
England India 98/0 1980
England India 58/0 2012
India England 51/2 1984
Australia India 47/0 2001
The series is already lost for India but there is plenty at stake for the hosts in terms of the World Test Championship final. India need a win over New Zealand to keep their hopes alive. If they win the third Test and beat Australia by at least 3-0, they will have a good chance to qualify for the World Test Championship final.
